Which Type of Leather Should You Choose?
Full-Aniline Leather: The most natural type of leather, it lets the markings and variations remain visible, giving each chair a unique look. Color comes from immersing hides in transparent, nontoxic dyes. It has less surface protection than other leathers, which makes it softer and allows it to develop a lustrous patina over time—one of its most prized qualities.
Semi-Aniline Leather: For a more even texture, this type of leather includes a small amount of pigmented dye. Adding the dye gives the leather a more even look, while still allowing its natural characteristics to show through and providing a thin layer of protection.
Pigmented Leather: A pigmented color coating creates the evenness, obscures imperfections, and increases durability and stain- and fade-resistance. Our Performance Italian Leather is 100% top grain leather with an embossed pebble grain, silky smooth hand, and extra pigment layer for added color consistency. It works well for high-traffic areas and gives a modern feel.
Nubuck Leather: This top-grain aniline leather with a lightly buffed, soft napped finish has a velvety hand. A treatment added during the tanning process gives this leather water-repellent properties.
Vegan Leather: Water- and stain-resistant, soft and supple vegan leather offers an appealing alternative to traditional leather. Similar in its luxurious look and feel, it provides rich color and a unique texture.
